About Oliver

After earning his bachelor's degree in Marine Biology from Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA, Oliver worked as a sea kayak and snorkeling guide in Hawaii before transitioning from the ocean to the mountains and rivers of Wyoming. Over six seasons, he worked as a raft guide, developing a passion for building deep, meaningful connections, which inspired him to pursue a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling at Adams State University. In 2021, he returned to the Tetons where he continues to support the community through volunteer work with TCSAR and provides counseling services at Rooted.

Oliver’s Philosophy

Oliver believes that therapeutic alliance is the primary driver for positive change in counseling. Empathy, mutual respect, and nonjudgmental support are the three pillars that allow clients to explore vulnerabilities and engage in healing. He is passionate about helping individuals develop their most authentic framework based on core values. Approaching therapy with genuine curiosity, Oliver seeks to help clients find clarity behind their presenting concerns while utilizing tools from an extensive toolkit to support positive growth. Oliver is neurodivergence affirming, LGBTQ+ affirming, culturally affirming, and enjoys working with people who are navigating trauma, understanding their cultural identity, or experiencing existential life transitions.

Oliver specializes in counseling teens and adults navigating challenges related to substance use, anxiety, depression, trauma, neurodivergence, and identity development. His eclectic approach draws from numerous modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and existential therapy. With a trauma-informed lens and a strengths-based perspective, Oliver meets clients in Idaho and Wyoming, offering genuine care and collaboration to support growth and healing.

Outside of the office, Oliver stays connected to the Teton Valley community through time spent outdoors. He finds peace in climbing, skiing, mountain biking, rafting, and spending quality time with friends and family.
