About Katie

Katie is a licensed therapist in Utah and Idaho. She has been working in mental health for more than a decade and has worked with adults of all ages in outpatient mental health, oncology social work, and university counseling centers. She is most passionate about working with individuals one on one to cultivate a caring, collaborative relationship through which individuals feel supported enough to approach even the most uncomfortable parts of self with compassion and curiosity. Katie completed her Masters of Social Work at the University of Utah and has since trained in a variety of modalities including EMDR, ACT, DBT, Self Compassion, and Clinical Supervision, among others. She is available to see individuals in person or virtually in Utah, and via Telehealth in Idaho.

Outside of work, Katie loves running, rock climbing, cooking, spending time with friends and family, and snuggling up with her cats!

Katie’s Philosophy:

Katie believes effective therapy can offer a pathway back to our authentic selves and a way to find connection, hope, and purpose even in the face of the unavoidable challenges and pain in life. She specializes in working with individuals dealing with the impact of traumatic experiences, grief & loss, negative body image, and those navigating significant life transitions such as the challenges of emerging adulthood, relationship challenges, separation or divorce, faith transitions, midlife and aging considerations, and the impacts of acute or chronic illness. She is especially passionate about providing affirmative care to LGBTQIA+ individuals and also enjoys working with other therapists, therapists in training, and healthcare workers.

Katie believes it is critical to explore how our identities interact with the social and cultural environment in which we live, and to acknowledge how this shapes our experiences and the beliefs we hold about ourselves. With that context in mind, she utilizes a variety of tools to help individuals explore and change their relationship to beliefs that may be getting in the way of living as their most authentic self. Her goal is that therapy serves as a pathway to a greater sense of freedom, ease, and contentment.
